COME OUTSIDE

A series of three painting days, come to one or come to them all!
Artists working in all media and from amateur to professional are invited to join the members of The Chandos Society of Artists summer painting ‘en plein air’ in three different locations.
There is a one-off registration fee of just £5 which includes the hanging fee for the first entry in the follow-up exhibition. That’s a month exhibiting your work for just £5!
Additional entries will be subject to a hanging fee of £2.50 per picture.
Bridgwater Arts Centre take a 30% commission on all sales.
Entries must reflect the locations of the painting days. 
Folio entries are accepted at 50p per picture.

Summer Pop-Up exhibitions
We now have a 3m sq gazebo for exhibiting at various outdoor events and locations. Hanging space is at a premium but there will be browsers for your folio works.
First up will be Wedmore Fair – 7 July. Next Taunton Live – 21 July and
Bishop’s Palace Gardens, Wells – 10-11 August. (Come Outside III)

2017 was a good year, full of great art.

SOMERSET ART WEEKS Sept 23 – October 8

Eleven members represented the Chandos Society  with a stunning collection of over 100 works. The gallery was open 7 days a week 10-5. Over 400 visitors came to enjoy this eclectic exhibition of the local visual arts scene.

Two cash prizes are awarded: The John Allen Prize £50 for the best artwork judged by an independent professional artist, awarded at the free Private View and Wine Reception, Friday 17 November 5.30 – 7pm and the
The People’s Choice Award £50. The winning entry is chosen by visitors to exhibition and awarded at the close.

Summer Exhibition June 11 – August 28

What an amazing summer it will be. Twelve, yes twelve weeks of exhibition at the Huntstile Organic Farm. Throughout the summer Huntstile welcome continuous parties to weddings and celebrations in their beautiful surroundings. That means an ever changing group of new viewers to your art.

Visitors to the Society’s Jean Rees Memorial Lecture were treated to Paul’s insights of art teaching and practice during and after the 1940s, the famous Goldsmith alumni he knew and befriended including John Hutton, famous for his glass engravings on the Great West Screen of Coventry Cathedral, the sculptor Robert Jones who’s memorial to Winston Churchill stands in Parliament Square and the great British artist Graham Sutherland.

Paul also gave some personnel antidotes about his life, work and some regretful memories like being dumped by Mary Quant!
